Late Of The Pier

Late Of The Pier, a great band out of the UK have been together since 2001. The have supported acts like Kaiser Chiefs and Hadouken!. When I saw Justice in London earlier this year at the Somerset House, Late Of The Pier opened for them. Unfortunately, I only realised that now, and we missed the opening act. Poo.

Some have hailed them as the next Klaxons, I wouldn't go that far. More of a Wombats come Mystery Jets sounding act. The music is happy and awesome to dance to. Too much and it gets poppy, but in doses it's super!

Here are two songs I really like from the band. The second song (Broken) is featured on Kitsune Maison 5 as a Fairy Lights mix. The act, Fairy Lights doesn't exist, instead it is a mix of the original song, done by the band. It is seriously banging (to use a jock word I have heard a lot of late).

Kitsuné Video

So remember the post I did recently on Kitsune Maison 6? They released a promotional video for it. Check it! They speak to all the artists involved in the compilation. There are a lot of guy/girl combos. Seems to be fashionable these days.

Dario, if you read this, get this cd in your store! On that note, Astore (one of CT's very few good stores) are opening a new store in Claremont to get jocks to wear skinny jeans and buy Le Coq Sportif shoes. Nice.

Van She

So, there has been a lot of hype on the www about a little Australian band doing big things in Disco. Van She are from Sydney combining raw synth, in their earlier work, with more textured sounds of their newer stuff. From what I have heard of their music, it sounds very 80's, VERY 80's. So they got love for you if you were born (or lived) in the 80's, the 80's. Sorry.
Have a listen. I found these downloadables on DISCODUST.

Van She - Kelly (Breakbot remix)

Otherwise check their Myspace for some more tunes. Also view their "Strangers" video below. I really like this song. They have also remixed a couple of well known artists like Feist and Klaxons. The Klaxons remix was done for the world renowned Kitsune Maison group. Nice.
