Florence and the Machine :: Swimming

There is so much music in cyberspace and so much of it is abysmal or indifferent that I become cynical towards bands before giving them an ear. Florence and the Machine is one of these. I got the track 'Swimming' and started listening to it only this morning and I have to 'share the love'. I am thinking, British-more-upbeat-Lykke-Li OR British-Shakira-sounding-vocals-but-less-pop-more-orchestra-instruments. Yes? No?

They even won 'Best British Album of 2010' at the BRIT Awards.

Lykke Li and Bon Iver :: Dance Dance Dance (music video and live mp3)

Lykke Li is a Swedish gem that is making a name for herself as a great folk artist with a little sexy European accent. Before now she half covered the Kings of Leon track, Knocked up which was a very special track and covered the famous, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? accompanied by delicate piano notes.
Bon Iver and Lykke Li performed Dance Dance Dance together in LA. I think you may enjoy this:

Lykke Li :: Will you still love me tomorrow (music video and mp3)

Lykke Li is one of those you can't help but be drawn to. Her voice is captivating - I think it has something to do with the European accent she sings with? She is promoting her new single and giving it away. Check out her site for the very special music video and track. The track almost sounds like it was recorded a long long time ago. She accompanies her voice with only the backing of a stunningly proportioned piano sound.

    Lykke Li

I was chatting to my cousin in Australia earlier and he was telling me about bands to look out for, and he mentioned Lykke Li. Sounds Japanese. She's not. She is a lovely sounding chicky from Sweden. She grew up all over the world, from Sweden to Morrocco and even India, before she went to the States to record her first album. She is really good and would win my "band of the week" award if I had such a thing. But I don't.
I found a free song for download called Dance Dance Dance and another on her website called Tonight. If you like Feist and Regina Spektor you will enjoy meeting Li (real name).

This was her first music video called Little Bit.

Check out her Myspace and Facebook for more songs.
