Arctic Monkeys X Dizzee Rascal

I have posted this song already, but I feel the need to emphasize the track in the title of the post.

Arctic Monkeys: it's as if everything they touch turns to gold. They teamed up with Dizzee Rascal known rather for a genre of 'music' I would not even like to name on my blog. (Yes, I am that pretentious.) But it's a great track.

They also launched the Cornerstone video yesterday. Apparently it's pretty average. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Great, but cheaply created music

So in keeping with my largely ignored post yesterday, here are a few more tracks that you might like for a while before tossing them aside for the 'next big thing'. Enjoy:

Oh, and here's just a special one, cos I love the Arctic Monkeys:

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug album thoughts

Arctic Monkeys have recently released another album, Humbug. It is very cool. I have a few blog bffs who have reviewed the album already. I have abstained from reading their perceptions on account of not wanting to be swayed on my initial personal judgment of the album.

First thoughts: different, but great. There are sounds that blend 'typical' Arctic Monkeys music with that of The Shadow Puppets debut venture (which was a huge success by the way).

Their songs are still full of clever lyrics compiled with Alex Turner's genius insight into word usage. But there is somewhat less to jump around to in this album. Many of the tracks are in between lose-yourself-with-your-crazy-dancing-shoes and drift-into-505-mode. While you are encouraged to bob your head and tap your big toe, you are not inspired to get your sweat on with a crazy German audience (like I did in 07 to Favourite Worst Nightmare).

I think if give it a chance, you are bound to 'dig it'!

Track listing:
1. "My Propeller"
2. "Crying Lightning"
3. "Dangerous Animals"
4. "Secret Door"
5. "Potion Approaching"
6. "Fire and the Thud"
7. "Cornerstone"
8. "Dance Little Liar"
9. "Pretty Visitors"
10. "The Jeweller's Hands"

I am going to read these reviews now:

Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning (music video)

Arctic Monkeys are one of my favourite bands. I got to see them a couple of years ago. I got a little scared when Alex started with a new venture. Namely, The Last Shadow Puppets. I thought the Arctic Monkeys were over. Then my fears were put at bay by the announcement of the new album, Humbug. Relief!!

The song is great. The video is interesting. I am not so sure about Alex's new hairstyle though?

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug (and more)

Arctic Monkeys are set to release Humbug, their third studio album in August of this year. It promises much. Their first single, Crying Lightning is already on radio.
There are also two covers floating around that I managed to get hold of; a Strokes cover and an Amy Winehouse cover.

Arctic Monkeys - New Album

So, I was browsing a few blogs just now, and I saw that Arctic Monkeys are just finished recording and set to release another album, their third. For me, this is exciting news. They recorded in New York City, where it is now being mixed. The date of release for the as of yet untitled album is set for 24 August.

Similar to Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys have released various video updates to let fans know how the album is coming along etc. Something like a Youtube podcast I guess. Below is the latest one.

The tracklisting is as follows:

01. My Propeller
02. Crying Lightning
03. Dangerous Animals
04. Secret Door
05. Potion Approaching
06. Fire & The Thud
07. Cornerstone
08. Dance Little Liar
09. Pretty Visitors
10. The Jeweller's Hands

The album will be available on CD, vinyl and via digital download.

Check their site for new updates.

The Last Shadow Puppets

Last year I went to Germany and got to see Arctic Monkeys live in concert. What a show!
Anyway, now I find out Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys front man) has joined forces with Miles Kane from The Little Frames and The Rascals. They call themselves The Last Shadow Puppets. From the little I have heard, I really like them and would like to see them perform sometime.

They have been touring Europe and are soon heading to the States. Fun fun.
